6.5 PRC with 20 inch barrel

    Hi Everyone,

Just Grabbed a Bergara CIMA CF 20'' in 6.5PRC.
Would like to hear some opinions before starting from scratch and if anyone has any success with 20 inch barrel
    Components in my hand:
    Federal 210m primer
    New Lapua brass*50
    2217 powder
Berger 140gr vld hunting and 156gr eol. Could try Hornady 143ELD-X if any positive feedback

    Cheers

Don’t be discouraged by the low speed you might get early on, you could very well see the barrel speed up after 50 or 100 rounds.
And remember that accuracy is better than speed any day.

Mates Tikka action 6.5prc barrelled with a Carbon wrapped 20" - 147eldm, adg brass,57gr ar2217 @ 2810fps. It shoots great and will happily take animals to 600m if he had the skill. (which he doesn't cause he doesn't practice beyond that.)
Thats the only 6.5prc load i have tried with ar2217.

Shooting gongs at longer ranges is a great way to speed up the barrel, gain some skill and vital experience, all while having alot of fun. Make sure you practice when it is windy after you have it setup on a calm day.

Shot a Tikka this evening so 22.5" barrel, got 2875 with Sierra TGK 140s from 56.3 of 2217. GRT indicates plenty of room to go up a bit with this rifle but the Hornardy brass here has huge weight variation so caution is recommended! I'm sure your Lapua brass will be very uniform.

From my research, 143 ELDX is the to go to round for prc you'll never get wrong with it.
I had a few bergers so hope I can get some good results

    Running a 24" Tikka

Did load dev with 2217 and Eldx 143s, got very good groups but was slower than Super performance which also has good accuracy so went that way.

The Eldx perform well on game for me
