    6.5 Sherman Short Tactical

Anyone loading for the above? I’m looking at chambering a short action I have and keen to hear if anyone is shooting the SST or SS

Is it a proper short action with 2.860" mags? Or do you have enough room to stretch things out to 2.960"?

Because 6.5 PRC would be so much simpler.

It’s a proper SA and is BDL configuration.

It’s currently chambered as a 7mm WSM and has been good for the last 15 years but it’s time for a new barrel. It was always frustrating being so limited on COAL with the desirable long range projectiles.

Looks like I might need to bring in my own reamer and be a bit of a Guinea pig.

6.5prc wouldn’t come close to performance most of Richards cases are like Hornady quoted performance is far above reality 6.5 saum is your more sensible option or .260 rem better yet go anything .284

I’ve got a 7mm PRC in the safe and a 6.5CM build in the pipeline. I’m trying to fill the gap with something in 6.5 that doesnt result in the case being half full of projectile

You sound like my wife. No such thing as wasted money when it’s spent on firearms.

7mm saum is shortr than your wsm but will match the performance. Have owned both and rate the saum better for brass quality and ease of re sizing

While I agree it’s easy to waste money on 6.5s do a 300 saum perfect for a short action

Do it. I'd do the sst myself as the 40 deg shoulders can be finicky to get feeding nice.

The 7sst would be mint, 284 or better velocities with 162s out of a proper short action. Choice
