    7 PRC factory loads

I've been out shooting my new 7 prc today and whilst it shoots well the factory ammunition I'm using leaves a bit to be desired in the speed department. It still holds plenty of speed and energy out to silly distances but the whole point of these big cartridges should be too flatten that rainbow I reckon. Currently just been shooting the Hornady Precision Hunter 175 eldx and getting average 2736fps over 18 shots, Garmin Chrono, 22" barrel and running a brake, I dont doubt that the rifle will probably speed up a bit after its had a few more down the tube but surely theres something out there that can push a heavy along a bit swifter than that? Really can't be bothered reloading..

Have you tried the Federal premium ammo? For the 3 different cartridge’s I’ve seen it used in, the speeds seem to be a lot closer to suggested box speeds. It’s my first choice for any new rifle.

Does the box still say 3000Fps?hornady need to stop lying and re brand the box to the actual speed.they know their ammo is slow.i refuse to buy precision hunter ammo now, apart from the projectiles its low rent garbage that has a top end price.
you are probably 200fps slower than what they have advertised and that's not acceptable I don't reckon.the 6.5 prc precision hunter is all 100+fps slow that I have tried.

Its been slow in every calibre I have, although you could give them points since their "test rifles" are always 24" and this rifle is 22" i still didn't think it would be 270fps slower than their advertised speed. In my 6.5creed which actually is 24" their precision hunter does 2660 and they advertise 2700 so thats not massively off. In my 6 creed the 103gr precision hunter is slower than their 108gr match ammunition. Have had a suggestion to try the federal premium with the 175 eldx as apparently its a lot quicker so will put that on the list

You’ll probably find the Federal premium is running on RL26 & therefore give you north of 2900. You really need to roll your own to get the best out of 7PRC.

Hornady is crap I tried it in 6.5prc and it was only 2717fps slower than my .260

Factory 175 ELDX shot 2700 avg out of my T3x blackout cut to 22, fed with the 175 shot 2840, factory 180 eldm shot 2735.

Have settled on a load with 180 ELDM and reloder 25 @ 2840fps avg, accuracy is there and energy in for days so I’m happy

Tikka barrel in 7prc seem to be quite slow out of the box from what I have seen on two rifles. Will be interesting to see if they speed up.

Tried 2217 and 2213sc, similar velocities but not as accurate, would still be perfectly good for hunting with just that I had the options so ran with the most accurate.

Definitely could have pushed further and possibly had them going quicker if I worked up to velocity but I’m happy with where they sit and there just isn’t a need there at the mo

Sorry for all the questions but I've got one coming next week.
What cases I found Hornady shit last time I had a 7prc was either going Peterson or ADG
