7MM Rem mag - case damage

    Hey there.

I purchased a tikka t3x 7mm rem mag that came
With some cases that had apparently only been shot once, and only in that rifle. Norma cases.

On inspection of the cases some of them have a small bit of damage to the base rim of the case. Like a small wedge cut/indentation cut into the rim.

Does anyone know what may cause this?

Its a way of marking how many times they have been fired, generally using a small file

Hmm ok thanks, Interesting. I couldn’t work it out, given some have it and some don’t. But they have all been fired.

What I should have said is reloaded, not fired, which could explain this

If I have different rifles or barrels in the same Cartridge I will mark the brass like that or different cartridges using the same head stamped brass

A recent example is 6-284, 6.5-284 & 284 all using Lapua 6.5-284 head stamped brass
