    7mm wsm 168gr LRAB

    Hi team,

After shooting Amax and AB’s for years I’m thinking of giving the Long Range Accubonds a go as an all round load.
My hunting is all inside 850 yards.

My barrel is 26” and I’m pretty sure is 1:9”

Does anyone have any experience with the LRAB’s through a 7mm WSM?

I had a accurate load with 168 bergers and rl25. 3 in the same hole at 100. Kick myself for selling that rifle!
Never could get the LRAB's to shoot.

    Interesting.
How did the Berger’s go on animals inside 300 yards?

From various reports the LRAB's can be very finicky to get shooting well. If your barrel/twist etc happens to "likes" them, then your set. But if not, then you could burn thru pills and powder for no result.
The 168 VLDs or new 175 Elite Hunter VLD's or 180 ELDM's might be a better option.

They were real good. When shooting fallow would aim for the neck otherwise there would be no useable meat left. Mine were only doing 2950mv

What about 162 or 175 ELD-X or 180 ELD-M? The ABLRs are horribly expensive and aren’t really constructed for long range shooting. I have never been tempted to use them, but I use the 162 ELD-X in my .284 Win and they go very well.

I’m going to try the 162 and 175’s.

I’m a little worried on how they might go on animals inside 100 yards though....
Maybe I’ll keep loading AB’s to use for the tight stuff

I think they will be fine close up, but if that’s a concern, it’s hard to beat Nosler Partitions for close work. They’ve been around a long time and are well proven to deliver a winning combination of energy transfer and penetration. You could double load them for 0-100 or 150 and then 162s for beyond that.

162s in my .284 Win have never let me down at close range on goats, pigs, tahr, reds and chamois, but they are going a good bit slower than they would be in your rifle.
