Question 7PRC hunting projectile choice ???

In the not to distant future I'll be working up a load for my Weatherby mk V 7PRC, was pretty set on feeding it a steady diet of 180gn ELDM's but interested to hear what others are using ?
Mostly reds and fallow out to 650 yards. Bulk of shots well under 500yards.
Yes I know you don't need a PRC to kill deers but I do like the wind bucking abilities of the heavy 7mm projectiles and occasionally shooting steel for fun.
Who's using what ? and what is working well ?

I am running a mk5 7prc and have tried 190 a tips, 180 Berger hybrids and the 180 eldm. It shot the 180 ELDM with the best accuracy and these work very well on game for me. Name: IMG_1694.jpeg

I tried a few different powders and couldn’t get great velocity with reloder 26 or 2225 but have had good results with n570

Gidday. Run in my cousins bog standard T3X this weekend using a box of Hornady Match 180 ELDM. 2770 fps average from 22” barrel.
Four deer for the weekend. All bang flops.

What powder you using and what velocity you getting, I have lots of 2225 to play with, would prefer to stay with adi powderdue to availability, even if I don't get warp 9 as long as it's accurate and reasonable velocity I'll be happy

Was getting similar speeds with rl26 and 2225 around 2880 from a 24inch barrel, getting 3050 with the n570. Accuracy was good with all three powders with the 180 eldm.

Great thanks for that, did you seat the 180s out long ? The mag box in the mk v magnum action is huge

yes the mag box is great, nice to have a long one for a change. I am running them at a 50 thou jump I havent worried about testing anything else.

I would be interested to hear how you get on. Which model did you get?

nothing fancy, I got the Live Wild. I have a second stainless MK V currently being fitted with a 20" trueflite barrel that I will probably use for most of my hunting.

I'm not using them, but I would think that the situation you describe is what the Long Range Accubond was developed for.

they were a consideration, as was the Berger 195gn...if the ELDM's work I'll probably just use then, don't need to be going 3000fps for them to work way out further than I will ever shoot them.
time will tell, at the moment the Landcruiser is still soaking up fun tokens.

Ive got some 180s if you want to try a box could bring em to work if you wanted to grab them. They killed very well in the 280ai. Seemed to shoot pretty bloody well too.
