Advice on ammo ...2 packets and not the same

Hi, recently bought 2 packets of 100gr fed powershok from local store(243) Packets are identical but when i opened one pack
the rounds dont look right. The projectile is thinner and a wee bit longer than the olsd ammo i had.
Opened the other pack and that was fine, just like the old ammo i have.
Not keen on using the pack with longer, thinner projectiles as cant be sure they going to shoot the same as the others.
The cases seem all the same as both packs....whats the story.
Should i take back the suspect rounds

you got sensitive enough set of scales to weigh both boxes and see if major diffrence in weight???
wouldnt be first time someone had swapped out inner box....might be 87grn projectiles perhaps???

Could be worth going back to the store and getting them to check nearby packets, take your ammo so they/you can compare. The ammo may have been swapped boxes (could be 243 fusion)

Also could compare lot numbers, probably even be worth contacting Federal and asking if they've changed something recently.

I'm picking they may have changed something due to the current supply shit show.

Odd.....but not that odd in that this sort of thing seems to happen reasonably regularly.
Id take em back to the shop as a starter, it may be they have changed the load due to supply issues etc or maybe it is incorrectly packaged.

Regardless as long as the projectile is the correct diameter I doubt it would shoot different enough to matter at bush ranges.

Came across this thought maybe have some bearing??
    Note bullet length differences...
Perhaps with ammo issues nowadays they mixing it up a little and using whatever is at hand projectile wise or simply repackaging slightly different products as per their reply hoping no one notices ....

I saw this once at the range. Someone in the shop had opened the packet for a look......the fellow had two packs of 30/06 but when we checked all of them there were 5x 270 in one of the packs.....I was rather concerned that someone out there had a pack of 270 with 5x 30/06 in there....

You may have just bought the last box of one production run, and the first box of the next production run.

When I was goat culling full time Federal changed from their own Hi-Shok projectile to Sierra Pro-Hunter to Speer Hot-Cor in their blue box .25/06 117 gr. ammo. Had to do a quick zero adjustment on a forestry skid one morning.

Highland/PPU changed from a stubbier 100 gr. projectile seated deep to a long ogive design seated further out.

I like to buy factory ammo by the 200 case and check zero when open each new case. Trouble free motoring from then on!

Not just an illusion that it’s thinner because it’s longer? 6mm would be the smallest diameter on the .308 parent case wouldn’t it factory round anyway (22-243)

    Are batch numbers the same?

270 is a practical number, by the second definition
The sum of the coprime counts for the first 29 integers is 270
270 is a sparsely totient number, the largest integer with 72 as its totient
Given 6 elements, there are 270 square permutations[3]
    10! has 270 divisors
270 is the smallest positive integer that has divisors ending by digits 1, 2, …, 9.
