Alternative way to measure shoulder brass.

A bit of French ingenuity …I hope it works.
Following another post where people don’t necessarily have a gauge to measure the headspace on brass.
Simply use your seating die, strip it completely, et voila you have a free headspace tool within your reloading die box. Note, it does work with hornady dies. The advantage also, is that you have a gauge even for those weird wildcat rounds like 458 socom ..etc.

Please give it a try, and see how it goes.
If it does or does not work please report back.
    Thank you.

Haha, like it. I've seen guages made out of a bigger case, there is one here somewhere . . .

A pistol cartridge with a dial vernier works.

Find a tightish/firm to close case.
    Place case on the shoulder.
Measure total length using a vernier.
    FLS the case.
    Measure again

The difference is the amount of bump/ head space.

    Bobs your uncle.

    Great idea Friwi.

I've got a lot of respect for the french engineers I work with, they sure do approach obsticles and challenges with a different mindset.
