Thread: Auto Bullet Feeder - my version of a Mr Bulletfeeder

I've started down the long and expensive road of pistol shooting. I haven't brought one, nor a progressive press, but have looked at a few online etc. The whole auto case and bullet feed setups are pretty cool. I was cleaning some stuff out of the shed yesterday and was about to through out a old bucket and thought "I could turn this old chicken feeder in to a bullet feeder".

So, grab the jigsaw, Drammel and drill. Nearly there, just need to find a motor/gearbox and a drop tube.






Cut the first slot too deep!

Just got a 36RPM high torque 12v motor/gearbox from JayCar for $28 and a small micro switch for in the bullet tube.

I'll try and mount the motor tonight and pour some bullets in. I believe I will need to do a little fine turning once running, but nothing major.
@Spanners I'll let you know if I need any photos, but think(hope) I should be close.

No idea yet, and don't think it matters. Details like that should never prevent a project. A Dillon 650 would be great but may settle for a Lee Loadmaster. Either way, a RCBS Bullet feel die at around US$28 should do the trick, or just get a Mr Bulletfeeder die from them.

It could even feed a Lee Pro1000 bullet feeder, just add this at the top of the tube.

Anyway, got the 12v motor wired to a laptop power supply(18v) and nearly got the motor mounted and just need to cut out the rest of the bullet slots.

Couldn't agree more, just thought you might have had a idea on the feeder side.
I was thinking the lee die, but will have a look at the rcbs. All ready got the 650( with the case feeder) and highly rate it. If you do get one, i'd recommend getting a couple of tool heads....

Might put some thought into(or buy) a powder check when/if i make one of these as well.....

Forget the RCBS die they are junk.
Buy a Mr Bullet die. Flawless

Motor mounted and just need to connect the two shafts.





Stuck a few thin washes under the top disk to reduce the friction.

Ok, so changed to a BBQ rotisserie from the little DC motor, mainly because I cannot be bothered trying to join the two shafts.

Video showing it working, still some minor modifications to make and then double the number of slots to increase the rate of bullets down the tube!



Next time I would use a bit of 250mm Sewer grade PVC pipe, this bucket is a little light weight, but it seems to work OK. I'm certainly not the woodworking craftsman that some of you are, but this seems to do the trip.

Just need to add a drop tube and progressive press.

I've fixed the three slots that were cause the upside down bullets, just needed to be filed a little deeper.

Current outout rate of 900/hr, this should be heaps for a Dillon 650!

The answer to all the world's problems; more power!

Mine has a tx with variable voltage on a screw.
12v it's hauling ass! I load on 9v and I can't keep up with it at 1200:hr output
