I’ve shot a few deer with the 130gr ttsx at 400 odd yards, at which point they’re doing about 2000fps. If you hit major bone they work, anything else and they don’t open up.

I've shot quite a few deer with Barnes projectiles over the last 25 years, the majority of the ones in 270 with 110 and 130, have never had a problem killing them if I do my bit, but would have only retrieved approx. 20% of the projectiles. In the early days of Barnes projectiles availability here shot numerous animals with the .222 with 45 and 50 gr projectiles, killing them was ok even though the early Barnes were not renowned for consistent accuracy. Didn't want to be in a shit fight over Barnes, just wondered if anyone on here had used them in the field in the Grendel. Have read an overseas article about their use but you never know under what conditions it's happened, could be feeding at the meal trough.

I still use them, never lost a deer due to their performance, but had a few die slower than I like. They are still a favourite for closer range.

Long shot where I hunt would be 250 meters, majority 50-150.

As you said earlier try some on goats, when we started hunting we spent a lot of time shooting goats and tried different projectiles to see how they performed.
If they work ok at the ranges you want to use them at on goats there will be a similar performance on deer, get them going as fast as possible with the desired accuracy and you should be good to go.
