I wouldn't be trying for 3000fts out of a 16" barrel tbh. That seems a bit too out there. If you go for a short barrel, you're also keeping mag length right?
At the very least you'd be murdering your brass life potential surely?
I'm using AR2219 (H322) to get 2800 fps with a 125gn projectile, but also want to make the brass last a bit (GRT showing pressures around 55k). In saying that, have yet to group as well as it does with the heavier projectiles. Still need to play with COAL to see if can improve accuracy...
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.
308Win One chambering to rule them all.
I have had excellent results using the Sierra 2124 projectile (135gr) loaded with 51gr of CFE223 powder. getting 2800 FPS and really good groups.
This is a light projectile for bigger deer but outstanding on Fallow and smaller Reds (goats and wallabies as well). the short barrel needs a fast burning powder to get up to speed(s).
I also found the Sierra 180gr TGK we pretty good but have not fully worked the load out (I have limited powder options to try).
As an aside the lands in my rifle (BA-13) were miles away from the shoulder, once I started experimenting with the bullet jump things improved immensely.
I would start my measuring the amount of jump you have as you may have to seat the projectiles extra long, thankfully as a single shot you don't have to worry about mag-length.
I had a play around yesterday evening with my BA13 308, working on a reduced load to take when going with my son.
Measured distance to lands for 3 125gn projectiles: Sierra SP - 2.805", Targex 2.85", Nosler BT 2.905". So quite a difference depending on how "pointy" the bullet is.
Targex was loaded to around 2350 fps, tried 2.70" and 2.67" COAL, both shot sub-moa, so went with the shorter COAL (slightly faster). Nosler loaded to 2700 fps also shot sub-moa at 2.80" and 2.75" so again went with the slightly shorter COAL. Only 3 shot groups mind you (not 10 shots!), but good enough for me for hunting loads, not intended for long range. Both fairly fast powders - reduced Targex load using 2207 and the Nosler using full case of 3031 (quite bulky - 45gn of powder, could probably squash another 1gn in, or use a higher volume case - currently in Starline brass). Including some sighting-in rounds (had swapped scope) and checking sub load POI, around 10-12 rounds were shot before shooting the new loads. So no real problem with accuracy. I think the Targex has real potential, I think with a fuller case of right powder could lower the velocity ES, tighten up the groups even more.
These loads are noticeably softer shooting than the 168gn load I normally use with the Bergara.
I had issues on with pic rail screws working loose constantly as well, need a good dose of loctite to sort.
If you have tried a bunch of loads and haven't found anything below 3-4 moa you need to be looking elsewhere in the system as something is wrong.
Mine shot like crap of the bipod to, pack only
@SilverKiwi
There was a huge thread on the German hunting forum about the issues with the Ba13.
As already mentioned by others there are 5 common problems. Firstly the mount comes loose if the screws are not glued onto the barrel.
Secondly the rail is of very poor quality and should be replaced right away.
Third issue is the fore end stock if not adjusted accordingly.
Forth problem, the rifle doesn‘t like bipods or hard surfaces you put it on. Hold the foreend with your hands and hold itas close to the chamber as long you are comfortable with. Lastly the locking parts should have good contact. You can improve this with honing past to some degree. (Immage)
And lastly the rifle likes to be closed firmly. Hope that helps.
P.s. As a well known fact with a breakdown rifle the shots start to climb as the barrel gets hot.

The bakails share that "like to be shut firmly" thing too.ive got in habit of checking, pushing cocking lever downwards just to make sure.
75/15/10 black powder matters
@littlemorepork. Can you reference the german BA13 thread please?
Ive been considering buying one off these, missed out on one last week and again another that got sold couple week ago through a offer out side TM
Main reason i was looking at one of these my son shots LH but he still uses a bipod for most of his shooting but after what littlemorepork has said I going to have a rethink.
Thought it was going to be a cheaper option and safe option for him moving forward doing a bit more close quarters hunting.
Another twelve months away from getting his license
