Its fun but if you don't shoot heaps I'm sure there will be nothing wrong with factory ammo.
This may be true to an extent but going by a few of her write ups I have read she will find it therapeutic and fun more than anything........ Well at least for the first few hundred.
Will give you good satisfaction when you finally get your deer knowing it was all YOU, failing that can only blame yourself

Some clubs are a good source of powder, brass and target projectiles for practice as they buy in bulk and cheap at the start of the season.
Like the others have said store it as it came, and try avoid fondling your projectiles if you want them to stay shiny. My gear just lives in a box or the safe with damp rid and a few silica packs.

    Get amongst it!

If we use ADI powder instead of the Vihtavuori, which flavor would you guys recommend ?

    2206H, 2208 or 2209 ?

Would have though 2206h would be on the fast burning side for all but the lightest bullets.

If the load data is for VV then you should stick with that or start again

2209 for 130s or 140s should be fine

tx, probably stick to straight copy first off

    deadeyedicks for berger vld's ?

just looking at alternatives : SST 140gr and 2209 would work out a fair amount cheaper...

Why dont you and ebf start again?
Have a go at developing your own load as Abe could and would, only spend so much time on it, to ensure the build will shoot.

I would try a 130gr projectile with any of N160, 560 ADI 2209 or RL-17, RL-15 in Lapua or Nosler .260 brass or whatever you have left and have fun getting it where you want. You know it can shoot. Just feed it the right tucker you have contructed and you will have heaps of fun using it.
I also highly rate the Hornady 129gr SP for anything under 500. sIt shoots and more importantly, kills well, in all the 6.5's I have used it in. If money is no object, I would use the scirocco.

Stay the hell away from an SST in the .260.
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.

tx Dave, Dougie is running out of pills, so getting some loaded quickly is the priority, that's why I reckon straight copy first

Firstly the ammo supplied with the rifle needs to be used at a range to determine the new rifle owners accuracy level, use that ammo up then get someone competent to make more.

The rifles owner may be a 1 moa shot with 1/2 moa ammo, and thats good, more practise needed.

Bully, factory ammo is not a benchmark for anything. Its too variable and general in its intent.

A handload with known recorded assembly measurements and accuracy levels developed for a particular rifle is your benchmark.

You can strive to meet that benchmark as you develop and learn as a reloader, then as your skill progress you can try to improve on that benchmark by superfine tuning that ammo.

when i typed my message there was no load data for the rifle.(we must have been typing at the same time) most people buying a rifle doesnt come with load data.
if they shoot some factory ammo and note how it shoots. then for example... one day there trying a new load or development thinking this should be shooting better, maybe its the rifle, scope mounts are loose or something, or is it my load? rule out the load by shooting the factory ammo, the shooter can now go back to a reference point.
this is what a new reloader with a new rifle could do, instead of pulling her hair out changing hand load measurments etc, when all along the scope mounts were loose.

fair point bully, guess its just that you'd have to REALLY mess up with handloads to end up with something that shoots worse than factory... but hey, I'm sure it possible

there is also factory and FACTORY - Barnaul compared to Siera Matchking or Nosler Custom etc.
