I was hoping you'd watch the video as the demonstration was far better than my explanation, a picture being worth a thousand words and all that . I don't do point scoring , so on this occasion we'll just have to agree to disagree in a gentlemanly manner.

Thanks all , for your thoughts.

    I haven't sussed multi quotes , hence a second post .

His results were more exaggerated than I got , simply because I was using the comp' shellholder which meant the case only had 0.002" of shoulder clearance on the first pass .

Always remember. The case holders are not a very tight fit. They are loose so that thes cases "self align".

So, all the "precision" machining is for nothing.
Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.

It is called cordial discussion. Reloading is like guns...zillions of options.

The shellholders vary in depth , their loose fit is of no relevance . I believe Redding are deliberately designed as you've described .
My .223 uses the +0.008' to give a consistent 0.002 " shoulder set back with full die contact . What could be simpler .

I'm curious as to which particular cartridge (if any ) we are talking about here?

Wouldn't be one of the new fancy ones from Hornady, with the tight specs?
