Gotcha, I thought you were talking reloading issues....the Ugly looks like it may well make it's way into my toolkit. I get your point about having to reset for different calibres but that's more than offset by the time saved in case trimming vs say the Lee or similar, with the chamfer tool added it's a no brainer really. Think I'll stick with one plus appropriate collets, bus life requires less rather than more.Quote:

Incidentally, after earlier deciding not to buy the trimmer, I changed my mind and hit the buy button for the 2 pack.
This was late yesterday afternoon. By the day's end Roger had the order in the hands of NZ Post. Pretty good service methinks.
What do these things actually do? Just trim for length?
Seems like a bit of a carry on??
Yup trim for length on a sized case using the shoulder as a reference point, way quicker than any other trimming method anywhere near this cheap.Quote:

I have crow gunworks for normal 223, 30-06, 6.5x55 and 308.
303 use lee zippy trim, if you're bump or neck sizing, and with different chambers the shoulder ones don't look appealing.
Leezippy trimmer I'd fine., wish I could get 22arc one, but special order at moment, not production.
My 3 Ugly trimmers arrived yesterday, still waiting on the chamfer insert (couple weeks away I'm told).
set up the 7PRC one and so simple and quick. Very happy, makes trimming so much quicker that I'm inclined to actually do it. will be even better when the chamfer insert arrives.
Ha ha got my 2 today including the chamfer insert (blame me for your delay).
Quality is top notch. Great attention to detail with everything nicely packed. Spare o-rings included. Excellent instructions.
Had a play with the chamfer and found the best results were if I rotated the case as it was cutting the chamfer. Reason being my brass (6mmBR) rocked ever so slightly in the bushing.
Likewise my 308 brass rocks ever so slightly in the 308 bushing.
I am sure though they have cut the bushings to exact SAAM specs though.
Used my old battery drill today but may set them up in the lathe when I do a full on session.
Like @dannyb I should have bought the 3 set instead of the 2 set.
ok so the simple lee jobbie
#1 stick case head in the holder which is in your cordless drill and tighten
#2 poke the pokey thing down throat of case till cutty thing enguages case mouth
#3 push trigger on drill
#4 remove pokey cutty thing from now correct length case
#5 get your case mouth deburry thing in other hand
#6 poke said deburry thing onto case mouth
#7 press trigger on drill for maybe 2 seconds
#8 reverse deburry thing and engauge other end (inner Vs outer)
#9 press trigger on drill another maybe 2 seconds
#10 remove case from holder in drill
but if case is dirty/tarnished.....
#9.5 put scotchbrite cloth against case and give another whirl......

nothing wrong with any other method, this is just so much quicker if like me you can justify 1 for each caliber you load for....for me I only load for 2 cals so having 1 for each and a 3rd for chamfer is a no brainer.
Nothing wrong with the Lee trimmers. They were the first devices I used when starting out. Would always recommend them to beginners.
I still use mine to trim my Hornet cases as I cannot be faffed setting up my Forster. I prefer to leave the Forster set up for 308.
I also adapted a Lee 30-06 one to trim my 7.5 Swiss cases.
I've also got Lee's little pull cord lathe that makes a far better job of giving a clean trim than using a faster drill. Just time consuming.
So, I guess that doesn't make me a Lee hater like a lot out there.
However, the Derraco trimmers are different to the Lee i(and a lot of other older trimmers) in that they more correctly index off the case shoulder rather than the case base/overall length. Most of the latest trimmers index of the shoulder but the likes of Giraud and Henderson are hideously expensive. The Derraco is a fraction of the price of those.
I'm giving the Derraco a go. We will see.
Giraud do a triway similar to the WFT it is family specific but as in tri it does 3 jobs at once. I only shoot one caliber enough to need trimming so job done.
I might get a 3006 AI but they say they don't need trimming with da 40' shoulder.
So does Henderson now, likewise my Forster as an option.Quote:
