I think you might be slightly missing the point mate. The issue here is the change in CCI SV performance, not whether historically one ammo is better than the other.

CCI Standard Velocity has shot very well in this rifle for several years. Reliable, precise and accurate, and always subsonic. Members here have been bored to death looking at pictures of magpies shot with this rifle. The ammo was good enough for me to be able to cleanly kill rabbits, hares & magpies with a very high hit percentage. Due to the terrain here nearly all shots on small game are >60m and most are in the 70-80m range. 100m hits are normal and I only start to see accuracy drop off on rabbit size targets around 120m (for shoulder shooting).

I never shoot paper as I have zero interest in it. I also have no interest in match ammo prices!

As @Wingman will attest, this rifle will happily shoot one ragged hole at 50 m with cheap CCI SV. Between me and Wingman we have quite a few photos of what this rifle will do with good quality SV. There’s a video somewhere of me shooting a small gong at 200 m with this ammo, plink plink plink one after the other.

This morning I went about eliminating the suppressor as a cause by first cleaning it extensively (no change) then fitting a full size over-barrel .22 cal DPT (no change, still supersonic every 2nd or 3rd shot). I tried to shoot another group with the normal rimfire suppressor (A4 paper, centre target) and had one shot not even land on the paper! The flipside to this is that yesterday I shot four magpies in four shots at a tad over 80m and each report was perfectly quiet. The four bullets were taken out of the other end of the box to this morning… It’s a total lottery. I also noticed this morning that some of the projectiles were loose in the case.

@rambo-6mmrem is 100% correct, when the boxes changed, the ammo changed. That’s been my experience. Probably just coincidence but it’s a marker in the sand for me and I am now probably put off recently manufactured SV altogether.

Historically, with CCI SV, groups have been considerably better than the pictures I posted earlier. Now that I’ve said this I have kinda forced myself to go and find some representative photos, which I shall do later. And that video.
Micky Duck and csmiffy like this.
