    Chrono thoughts

I’ve got a pro chrono for use at home for past couple years. Am finding it niggly to use with lighting etc as by the time I get to shoot it’s usually late afternoon and the sun is too low to cast a shadow. Has anyone had a go at setting up their own iteration of a lighting system? I see the indoor plug in option but don’t want to run a lead from the house

What’s the thoughts on the labradar? It looks perfect except for the price…

Lab radar is great. Use mine for pistols, black powder rifles, long range rifles. All tracked excellent.

Also use a pro chrono and it can be a frustrating finicky thing. Your never sure what is a true reading. I was thinking of heading towards the magnetospeed chronograph

I have a pro chrono and had some problems initially. These were due to it being too close to the muzzle blast. Moving it back to 5 metres from the muzzle fixed it. Then adding a correction to get true muzzle velocity
Remember to that grey overcast days are better than full sun. Branches waiving overhead cause issues.

With component prices what they are, load development with a shitty chronograph is expensive if you have to do it multiple times because of "light"

Use coreflute board and make a lightweight lightbox for your pro chrony and install cheap LED AA lights over the sensors. Should fix the problem of variable daylight, giving constant light and low error.

Much as I like having a chrony to get idea of velocity you still have to validate drops at various ranges. So I still tend to do it the old fashioned way. Sight in @ 100m, check drops out to max intended range, compare with ballistic program and tweak inputs till everything matches. Works well enough for me but then I generally keep shots to under 500m these days and to be honest most animals I shoot are under 100m.

If you only want the MV then get the Garmin.
If you want to save ammo and determine BC as well then get the non bluetooth labradar. The app is meh I hear so save your cash so you can get some accessories like a sight or bag / tripod.
