Hiya if you pull a projectile do you need to resize brass or can you just reseat another in? Cheers

Surly it would depend on the amount of blue-tac you use to hold the projectile in place.

I've not had any issues by just reinserting another projectile except when pulling & replacing on some formally crimped rounds.... namely 7.62x39 steel.

maybe double check the actual diameter of the pulled projectile vs the one to be loaded. Have you got some calipers? Or even just go by feel on the press when loading the new projectile. That's my usual gauge as to whether it feels right or not... should still be pretty snug, right? Otherwise bad things might happen...

I have just replaced them with no issues

I have always resized the neck before seating a new bullet.

In theory neck tension will be slightly different. In practice it wont make a noticeable difference for most people

I have done both and now tend to size necks again before seating another projectile. When I didn't size first I found the seater could make COAL slightly shorter but when I shot some of these the 200 yd POI was unchanged. The thing that made me prefer sizing necks again was I noticed when shooting with a full magazine (Tikka) that recoil also made some of the cartridges shorter which I guessed was due to less neck tension. The rounds still shot well but I was a bit concerned maybe they become too short and less accurate at some stage. Maybe an unfounded concern but that's my reason.

If it's a compressed load, I re neck size, as powder can push projectile out if neck too loose. I use a lee collect neck die with the decapping pin grund off, so primers stay in, remove powder & tip powder straight back in.

Without getting all techy and breaking out the micrometer youll get a good idea on how tight they were when you pull them and re seat them, Ive done it a lot and never had to resize

Just reseat & use as a barrel fouler or close range where precision is not as important. It will definately effect neck tension if you don't resize the neck.

The last ones I did were a heap of 223 fmj and replaced with soft points shooting out to 200m no probs, not doing bench rest tho

Usually I just resize about 1/3rd of the neck using a FLS die.

From an engineering viewpoint, you don't need to resize.

It's the "elastic" deformation that provides the tension and will cause the brass to spring back to a smaller diameter once the projectile has been pulled.

I would resize. Based on personal experience
