In the Hornady add it says :
'Increase your rifle's performance up to 200 fps without extra chamber pressure, recoil, muzzle blast, temperature sensitivity, fouling, or loss of accuracy'.
It does NOT allow you to shoot 200yards further.
With a short barrel you are pushing the limits with a 400yards shot and using factory ammunition.
But most shots are within 100yards anyway.
If the Hornady ammunition doesn't shoot within 1" @ 100yds you have to consider where the projectile hits at 400yds, which could be a miss or bad shot.
Or you can stay within 300 yards and keep life a lot simpler.

Hornady sp ammo is going faster than standard. So from his results a 139 sst going 2600 will have enough energy to do the job to 450 yards if you go with the fact you need at least 1000 ftlb.
If you used another projectile(same) in the same weight but was going 200fps slower, ie 2400fps then to get the same results in energy it will only be 350yards for the min 1000ftlb so the extra speed is giving you more energy at distance and in this case extends the range by 100 yards.
All test barrels are normally 24 inch, if the 139sst were going the 2950fps as stated you have plenty of energy to do the job past 500 yards
