Just wondering what others are using as their favourite projectile.
Used 130gr Speer HP and 155 Amax when I had one.
The 130 speers were my favourite for normal hunting ranges.
Heaps to choose from.

The 140gr 6.5mm Amax
130gr ttsx
150 Gamekings
Barnes 130 ttsx for hunting
LR target - Nosler Custom Competition 155 or Lapua 155 depending on what I can get.
what ever is cheapest
168gr amax
I used boring old 150 interloc for years, always penetrated and expanded well.
Started shooting a bit further and went to sst. Spos to be interloc with a tip for better bc. Well it is but that tip makes them much more explody. I loved them for the first 17 odd deer then one roar I had 3 blow up on two stags a week apart. Vowed never to use them again, in retrospect this was probably a bit harsh. I think the 165 sst would make a good 0-500y projectile with its higher sd and lower launch velocity giving more controlled expansion up close.
But i never tried the 165 i spat the dummy in my quest for a do all bullet and run 130 Barnes for 0-350 odd and 168 amax +200 and they both give performance I like at those ranges.
Got a box of 178 amaxes to try figuring higher sd and lower launch could make this a do all bullet for me but i am yet to work up a load and the way future supply looks it might be a while.
Ideal bullet performance on game is as personal as the ideal shape of a girls behind.
If your shooting inside 300 od yards 150 interlock or 130 Barnes won't let you down.

Well bugger me I bought a 30.06 that's been sitting on the second hand rack for some time, well over a year.
Everyone told me the 30 06 wasn't a patch on the 308 for accuracy.
Damn , somebody should have told this rifle.

The old mans brno 30 06 goes bloody well too

From what I can gather Cam, the 06 is a bit under rated here,.
I personally like the .30-06 for no really quantifiable reason.

nothing wrong with 30-06....if i recall right the germans were shocked in ww1 when the yanks arrived with them....very accurate at long range.
That's only because they were used to the yanks using the crappy French things that jambed when they looked at mud.
I was always under the impression that NZ favoured the .303 with the cheap ex-army SMLE's and the US favoured the 30-06 for similar reasons?
It's not 1970 anymore bro
I would probably use 208 A max if I had one, and spit the dummy if it didn't like them.
Hornady 150gr SST's:thumbsup:
190 vld hunting, 208amaxs pushed by RL17
I have just loaded up some 125gn accubonds for the 308. If they go anything like the 140gn ABs I use in the 270win they will be the bomb.
Cronographed them at 3000fps from a 16" barrel T3 but yet to get out after game.
Will keep you posted....
170gr Lockbase Lapua , 175gr SMK , 155gr Scenar & 178gr Amax
165 gr Hornady BTSP interlocts in the 30-06 works up close and out far. Its a do all pill that doesn't make holes in your pocket
Love the 150gn SSTs in my M305. Reasonably quick and enough downrange energy to do the job. Only issue with 30-06 is that it requires more powder to do the same job. Vietnamcam, 6.5 is my favotite calibre and I don't feel in the least bit gay. You're a nice looking boy though....
My old Parker Hale TX1200 had a 1 in 14 twist and it loved the 155 A-max whether for target or hunting!! ( it did like the berger 155 hunting but found the A-max expand more reliably on smaller game )

All the best............
Very nice groups.
Is that New Radnor?
Friwi
Your groups are actually smaller as you need to subtract calibre size to get centre to centre measurement;)
I think he already has or its a 0.016 group ;)

Thought of that, but the vernier is measuring outer edges and reading 0.324?
Maybe a bit of parallax!
Or open to .308 and re zero
