    Holy 6.5-284 smoke Batman

    Just back from the range shooting the 6.5-284 I've just finished assembling on a Savage action. The 620mm 24.5") barrel sent Norma 130gn target ammo downrange at 3090 fps average with a low ES and very good accuracy.

    Not a load I'd be aiming to duplicate if only to have the barrel last a reasonable number of rounds!

    That’s fighting talk @Shearer.

    I have a .284 and have a hankering for a 6.5-284 too. Just need to rationalise my fleet as I also have a .270 and a 7 Rem Mag.

    The Norma box says 3035 fps from a 26" barrel so to get 3090 average from a brand new 24 1/2" barrel that will gain a bit of speed with break in is pretty good. All three groups were under 18mm @100 too so nothing to grumble at there.

    Most factory ammo is so good these days for speed and accuracy.
