    Hornady 223 68 gr hpbtm

Getting ready for a trip down south yesterday a friend and I shot verification strings to 400 m with our 223s.
We both used to use the sierra 55spbt but the guy who loads gordons had changed him to a 68 gr hpbt match.
Previously a similar 68 grain bullet had proved fine at 100 m but useless at 200 plus (oval holes and all over the target frame) so we were a bit dubious. MV measured 2920, These worked well were stable to 400 and we got a good drop chart for them.
The bullets are 25 mm in length with the cavity being 10 mm deep so very tail heavy.
The rifles a savage 1:9 twist
Does anyone use these for hunting and have hornady changed the design as the same bullet was a fail 2 years ago.

Shot a few goats with them, MV 2840fps, large exit holes, lots of bleeding.

I find the 68gr hpbt really good in my 1:10 twist 223 on every thing from wallaby's to fallow deer,i've used about 700 of them over 2 or 3 year's. I hope he enjoys them

The performance was pretty impressive regarding how little drop (25 inches) over 400 m with a 200 zero compared to the sierras 30 even taking into account the 200fps slower speed. I might give them a try in my 1:10 if the mood takes me.

65gr Game King works well on goats out to 300 as well, decent BC for a soft point, ogive isn't aggressive making it easy to find a load in my experiance.
