An Interesting Session at the Bench

    Greetings All,
Had a day stuck inside yesterday with high winds and a bit of rain. This morning I wandered down the drive to check that it was clear of branches. All good and I was splitting some dry wood for kindling when the rain started and stopped and started again and again and again. Alright be like that I said, I'm going into the shed to do that handloading I had promised a friend.
I think I heard a voice with an Irish accent say "We'll see about that" but my hearing is not that great so ignored it.
The cartridge is a 300 WSM and I had FLS a batch of cases previously so trimming was next. Installed the appropriate shell holder and pilot in the trimmer but the shaft that clamps the case in place would not go through the shell holder. Bugger. After a bit of faffing around I wondered if there was a different shell holder in the die box. Sorted. I don't usually trim the cases all the way back to trim length but needed to due to the necks being lop sided. The cases were once fired and the crimp appeared crooked. While all this was going on I fished out my priming tool to set it up for the next step. That accomplished I tried to insert a case. Won't go. I had had to modify the tool for my SAUM but the case on the WSM's is fatter. I will use the press then. Put the old shell holder in the press. What the hell the primer punch won't go through the shell holder. The Redding one worked though.
By this time cutting kindling in the rain was starting to look pretty good but with the trimming finally done I have moved inside for a cuppa and some NPC footy. Will see what tomorrow brings.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Haha, every reloader has days like that, invariably when you're trying to be helpful. About the only thing worse than that sort of faff is a stuck case (with someone else's gear)!
