    Nosler solid base

I see that Nosler have brought back the solid base projectiles, guys my age will probably remember them, great bullets, I still have few 140 grain 7mm left. No .224 or .257 yet and the .244 seem to be all sold out, but those who remember them will be happy.

I see they do these in .243...what's the benefit of these, currently using 95gr BT's so how would the solid base compare?

They were a great pill back in the day
I used a heap in my .223 not as fragile as the BT

I was truly gutted when the stopped solid base manufacturing. Yay good news. They held together way better than
    ballistic tips in my experience.

On Ammo Direct they're around $11 a box cheaper than the BT's so that's significant. Just wondering how they'd fare in the .243 with a 1/10 twist. The 95gr BT goes really well, marginally better than the 90, wondering if the 100gr would drop off the other end of the performance envelope? Hmmm

My .243 shoots a 90 gn way better than a 100 gn. 100s can be hit or miss in a 1:10 .243 barrel.

Yep, that was my experience shooting factory Fiocchi, reckon I'll stick with the 95gr BT's that are shooting nicely, spent enough time chasing the perfect projectile for mine!

The 95g BT was developed by Gail root for him to harvest most African plains game. It’s well thought out, well tested and proven.

I have a box of the 100 grainers for .270 Win, I plan on flattening a few Fallow and reds with them, seeing as I suddenly have a .270 again.

I'd be keen to hear how you get on with those as I'm hoping to add a .270 to the safe quite soon

I see it shows as out of stock on their website, so I ticked the "tell me when you've got them" if they get enough interest, ya never know!

You can now buy Nosler solid base in factory loads under the name Whitetail Country. I have some in 165 gr for my 308 , they get along at 2720 fps out of my 20 inch barrel. More calibres are being added to the line up.
We used them a lot years back and they always killed well , more reliable than the original Ballistic tip but since they have been beefed up are probably on a par with the solid base.
