I should have been clearer n my OP.
I am not trying to get hi velocity .22 to go subsonic. I was more interested to see if standard velocity (which is generally rated only just over sos) would go sub in a slightly shorter than average barrel. When I get the rifle sorted I will chronograph some and report back.

I thought you meant supersonic ammo like winchester power point cci mini mags etc
If you're talking standard vol like cci standard or other target ammo
Then you're talking very little speed drop a slightly shorter than average barrel should get it consistently below sos i say consistently as the speed is so close to sos anyway that from my experience only a few per packet make the big crack my 16 inch kidd was putting ccis right on the edge of sos with slight very in speed between rounds was enough where one would break sos and the next wouldn't
I only used cci as practice ammo and lapua which is far more consistent than cci was my competition ammo the lapua was consistently under sos as its slightly slower than cci to start off with
