    Is RL25 equivalent to AR2225 / 270wsm Load Advise

    Hi Team,

On ADI's list of Powder Equivalents, they list RL25 as equivalent to AR2225, can anyone confirm this ?

I will be starting some load development on a 270wsm in the next couple of weeks.

I can find plenty of load data for 2225 for 270wsm for various 140gr & 150gr Projectiles, but nothing for the 145gr ELD-X.

I have found 1 lot of load data for RL25, for Speer 140gr & 150gr.
But Alliant dont off a Min/Max load, only what I assume is Max.

    Has anyone else had experience with 270wsm, 145gr ELD-X & RL25 ?

They're not equivalents in the same way that AR2225 and Hodgdon Retumbo are literally the same powder. Alliant make their own - it's not rebranded ADI powder.

ADI's chart is indicative of what powders from other manufacturers have *similar* burn rates - but that doesn't mean you can use AR2225 data for RL25.

I believe the "proper" thing to recommend is that you reduce the Alliant data that you found by 10% for your starting load. Split the difference between 140 and 150 for the 145's max charge.

    Check out https://www.hodgdonreloading.com/reloading-data-center.

Theres some load data for 270wsm with retumbo, which as pommy says is rebranded 2225..

    Is RL25 equivalent to AR2225 / 270wsm Load Advise

In my Allianz guide, RL25 data for .270 wsm
    140 gn 69 gns for 3180 fps
    150 gn 64 gns for 3050 fps
    We cases, cci 200 primers

Start 3-4 grains below and work up in 1s on a case of that volume .

In my experience with RL25 it’s a slightly faster burn rate than ADI 2225, and uses less powder. This is in 7mmRM, can’t help you with any 270wsm advice

You could start with data for the 150 grain bullet, reduce by 10 percent and work up.

Or split the difference between 140 and 150 data, reduce by 10 percent and work up.

I treat a 145 as a 150 when it comes to .270 win loads. No pressure signs, give it a bit more powder….
