Slowing down ELD-X for better results

Using 162gr ELD-Xs. Recently chopped the barrel on my 7mmRM which slowed my rounds to 2915fps. Found I’m getting better performance on the business end at shorter ranges (100-250m) than I used to and that the bullet is punching some pretty big holes on the way out and isn’t fragmenting as much. Wondering if anybody else had similar results in doing this? Or if this is the same for different Gr ELD-Xs.

That's good to know I'm about to load some in my 21" rem mag.
    What powder are you using

Mine are leaving the muzzle at around 2950 in my 280AI, shot a hind at about 30 yards on the weekend. Went in just behind the shoulder and out the middle of the far shoulder. 50 cent size exit wound, nothing crazy but lungs were destroyed.

I’m using 73gr of 2225. I’d recommend the DPT muzzle break too, don’t lose the sight picture when shooting since putting it on with bugger all noise increase
