given the results you are getting why are you developing loads for both the X and the M.
Both heavy for calibre high BC bullets.

To me they are something you chose 1 or other depending upon your philosophy on bullet terminal performance.
The X for busting shoulders and or pass though for blood trail, the M for blowing hearts and lungs to red mist but may not exit.

Are you thinking the M's for long range hunting and X's for shorter range stuff where you need a tougher bullet to resist blowup at higher velocities
while the M works well down to lower speeds?

To be honest, I'm having fun experimenting

I don't know if I'll end up using either. I do like pass throughs and I do like high bcs. I have had success with ELD-X bullets in other calibers, ELDM/AMAX as well.

How much tougher are the X?

I haven't seen a result so far that is sending me one way or the other. After a 10 shot group I'll decide whether to continue with one or move on from both. Or try another powder.

Did you see Jim has some assorted 6mm projectiles for sale??? Might be a winner in among them.

Very interested in the results of your testing mate. Particularly how those eldm's go on deer verses the eldx. ?

Well happy days, after mucking around with superformance for a few days (and some advice from @gimp) I tried some 2209 instead.

i kind of cheated though, 3 charge weights at 4 shots each. This is more like it.

I have been reloading for 8 years across a small variety of calibers and I have never seen such a dramatic reduction in group size from a powder change.

The superformance "group" is the same average velocity as the 41 grain 2209 group. I stopped after three shots on this one.

I am shooting 108 ELD-Ms with same powder in the same rifle. 41.5gns seems to go well for me, although I didn't do much experimenting.

I think that's what I'm going to go with. Speeds were very consistent over the test I did, I know it's only 4 shots but this has given me a very strong indication that it will work. Speeds were as follows

    40 2766 2760 2749 2772
    41 2824 2842 2836 2849
    42 2886 2892 2904 2904

There are 3 shots in one of those wholes but they didn't go in one after the other.

This rifle also really likes the 87 and 65 grain VMAX which is nice to know.

Thanks for the offer mate, I've got a lighter weight bullet sorted. I have played with the 95s and below before, really looking to make the most of the twist rate and play with heavy for caliber for now. Also just realized how many shots I spent/invested/wasted in this exercise so it's probably time to get some hunting ammo loaded up and some animals on the deck.

After I find a load with the 108 ELDM
