Most probably, considering nothing has changed legislation wise.
I guess it would be fruitful ground to look into the changes in management at WORKSAFE. New senior staff over the last year? Their previous affiliations to University gun-hating cliques? Affiliations to NZ political groups who hate guns? Personal relationships with the disarmament clique in NZ police management? From Otago, Victoria, Massey, or Waikato universities?
The list goes on, but it would be a fair bet that someone is on a personal agenda.

Beats me howthis can arrive so suddenly like other sudden changes in regulations but supposedly take 5ffing years to reverse?? Somebody somewhere is bullshitting. I think perhaps the "beehive" should be renamed "The Termites Nest"

Interesting to compare the 5 years plus ( almost two government terms of office)for any law change on this but only 10 days for law changes on semi auto MRS following the disaster in ChCh this month..
