Thread: What Have You Loaded Today

Had a bunch of new stuff to try. I'm finding some of my moulds don't really like the full length of 2.1" so I bought the redding crimper they designed for the ftx bullet. Seems to work great for lining up crimps with bullet cannelures.
I have some old winchester brass so they got the chop

-White river LR primers
-41gns of AR 2207
-405gn flat nose cast at about 13-15bhn hardness
-2 coats of pc and a run through both sizing dies
(They drop at .461", I clip on the checks and size to .459" with water as lube. Then again to .457". Add 2 coats of pc then size again to .459") a lot of farting about but they are usually accurate with this method. Hoping these flat solids are the business as I really want them as my main hunting round

40 rounds of 45/70, 405 cast, beeswax lard mix lube, 60 gr 2f, 40 38/55 cast 285 lead with smokeless, 35 577/450 480 gr cast beeswax lube over 70 gr 2f. Today casting a wodge of replacement projectiles some more 58 minie for the Remington and some 50s for the 500 BPE. Got a big corporate shoot coming up at the local club and people seem to love a bit of black powder.

Loading 45acp, going to try a light load of4 grns 700x behind a cast 200 grn semi wadcutter, for approx 750fps.
These will be shot from a mod 625 S&W for NRA comp

Where are you shooting NRA? Thought that had gone real quiet in the PNZ world.

I gotta say there seems to be heaps of active reloaders here in NZ nowdays. Right across the full spectrum from black powder, pistols, to target guys. You notice it more buying primers eh. The dudes behind the counter look left and right and whisper "here's your order.. now scam before somebody sees you!"
Kidding. But you get the vibe this stuff is now perminantly scarse and it's not because of the target guys and their bulk buying. It's probably the ol USA black hole that sucks all components back to the motherland

What temp you run your mix at? I'm finding 450deg c to be about perfect for filling out the mould. Especially if I only do a 3 second hold then drop them out

I have no idea of temp, lee pot dropped to 4 setting. I use a ladle not the drippy bottom spout. If it runs like water it's good to go wait till the sprues changed colour then cut and drop onto cotton catch pad

I do so like the look of them hollow points.

20 rds 270Win in 3 x 2gn increments using current ADI AR2208 data but using ADI Mulwex AR2208 bought from this Forum. Has worked fine in other calibres. 130gn Remington Corlokt- bought 200 of them @ 50c each from Tricky Dick in Levin ( God bless his cotton socks!)

So nothing premium to see here. I'll be shooting them out of a "U-Name-It" M98 (Zastava?) Action and no- name barrel in a Ramline stock with an old made- in-China 3-12×42 Nikula scope and a 350mm Gunworks over-barrel suppressor. In a genuine Ramline stock. Oh, and it has the birdwing safety on the bolt. Cost me $520 a up at Ted's Militaria and triggered a registration event so I'm delighted to report that without any further intervention on my part it has proved to be a real tack driver. So far. Have been shooting Remington 150gn and Hornady 130gn SPs in it over Accurate 2700, which, I've decided, is far to good in the 270Win waste on plinking, also bought from this Forum.

Spent the evening with two mates loading for their Tikka 7mm rem mags. One of them we already have a load for and he just needed more rounds to go knock over more Sika. 180 eldm with some rel 26 etc.

The other mate has recently bought his rem mag and wanting to do a load for it. He’s picked up some 2225 and 162 eldx and i’ve sent him off with a few ladders to try. Being a Tikka I don’t anticipate much trouble.

Well I just did a quick count up from my Firearms Registration spread sheet and I reload 25 different calibers ( 4 calibers have multiple rifles in same caliber ) and of those 25 calibers there are 5 that I could get factory ammunition for.
Now it likely wouldn't be optimum for those particular rifles

The other 20 calibers simply aren't ever going to be factory rounds ever again.
So reloading obsolete calinbers, casting and sizing bullets to custom sizes is essential in my world
