I've tried lots of different flavours mostly in AR15's.

    748
    H335
    CFE223
    IMR 4064
    IMR4166
    BM2
    BM8208
    2206h
    2208

Out of that lot I found 2206h to be the best across a wide range of bullet weights. I never had much joy the American ball powders. Low velocity and average accuracy seemed to be the norm. I also found it messy. If you spill it God help you.

    Win 748.

Ball powders meter better from my Chargemaster.
BM2 even goes better in the CM. Powder made in heaven.

My experience is that every rifle is different, but that one of these will work. 2206, CFE223, BLC-2 (poor mans CFE223-burns dirty), BM2, 2208.
2206H is my go to powder for the first try.

    I simply couldn't get Barnes tsx55 to shoot until I tried 2208.

2208, that's what was recommended to me, works for me, haven't changed.
Using in a 308 as well as it means I only have to carry one powder, I use the same small rifle primers on both.

+1 for BM2. Good velocity, consistent metering in Chargemaster, always available. Use with Hornady 55gn soft point flat base.

2206H as my Remmy 700 is limited to light projectiles due to slow twist. But very happy with it!!

2206h has worked well out of my 1:12 cz. I shot 55gr sp/50gr tsx up to 64gr power points with good accuracy and ES. That's with a 17.5" barrel.

Aren't the small rifle primers a bit lose in the 308?

    H335.
Does the 308 with 125gn accubonds as well.
I use large rifle primers in the 308 though.
