Do the rules permit shooting prone?
4. All shooting will be done off the benches. No prone shooting

It'd be interesting to know what projectiles everyone was ruining, although the 4th place 6GT hung in there with the aggregate score, 2nd and 3d both had 1 group that was "bad" that threw out the aggregate score, where as the 6GT was lagging behind across all 3 groups.
Id heard that 6mm bullets (while incredibly accurate) can struggle in the wind despite having a high BC.
Bigger heavier bullets (even with the same BC) seem to handle the wind better, hence why 7mm is so popular in F class.
There are no 6mm bullets that can compete with the heavy 7mms for BC. 6mm tops out around 0.3 G7 whereas the heavier 7mms get close to, or over, 0.4 G7
Even with that in mind, supposedly it's well known in F class that 7mm and 30cal will outshoot 6mms even if BCs are similar.
There's no way to know if that was a factor here, as the winners look to have full F class builds (and presumably accuracy) and had much better performing cartridges.
Only 300m is also pretty close range and well inside the distance the 6mm BR/Fclass cartridges usually excel.
Just an anecdote I'll tuck away in the back of my mind.
I find it hard to believe considering the actual mechanism of wind drift. Shooting sports are full of voodoo myths though...
Apparently, the winner threw an older barrel on, guessed a load (1/2gr more than his std) and had a go. Must have been a good guess..
This has been a great thread, thanks @308WMate . I've just done the summer calendar for our range and we are going to run a very simplified version of this match for 22s at 100M and centre-fires at 300Y. Our will have to be shot F-class style (no benches) and we'll have a Hunter class as well as an Open. We are very informal so ours won't be as structured but it will be fun!
Good to see the 30 Cals doing ok as well. Te Puke rifle club member in first place, retired TPRC 2nd and another TPRC member in 11th.
It would be great to have a comparison at longer ranges @308WMate we have a bench you can use as well. From my understanding your rifles aren't set up for prone, but you're more than welcome to test your rigs further out.
Well done on a successful competition.

Looks like a great event at an awesome facility you guys have there!
Hopefully I can make the next one of these, need to try encourage shooting clubs in the Waikato BOP area.
Would have been interesting to see a 6mm in a full F-class rig compete. Maybe a good challenge for next year.
From what I know...the 284's were shooting 180's, the 6mm probably 105-109's and the 6PPC shooters would have been running 65-68's. The wind was wild. Windiest day I have ever seen at the range. So no probbaly no surpise that the heavy, high BC bullets won. Next year for Tack Driver 2 though it could be a calm day and then what will happen...
