Guys, what do you need in the scope and mounts department to be competitive?
Max range is 200m or less?

max range for rifleman is 200m. marksman is 100m.

I run a cz452 with an Arken SH4, Arken rings and an EGW moa rail.

I come around tenth but I don't shoot or practice much so could easily improve.

that set up ran me 1700 odd dollars. I should have sponged off @dogmatix and borrowed a rifle a bit longer until a t1x or 457 popped up simply because there is more aftermarket things out there

You could be competitive with a cheaper scope (Arken, DNT, Vortex, Discovery, etc).

You don't need a $10,000 set up to be competitive.

    I'd say it's a mixed bag.
A standard T1x or CZ in a chassis can definitely hang with the custom builds.

CZ457 seems to be the best option for a factory rifle, to then customize down the road.

It is not the rifle/scope combination the makes the difference, within reason, it is the " nut behind the but that counts". If you don't have the ability to take advantage of the rifles ability you are no better off no matter what you are using .
And to say a semi is somehow not as good as a bolt , well that is just plain ignorance. As they say " Its not the size that attracts the flies , its the sticky stuff at the end".

Im running a element helix 4-14 in Marksman Class, max of x10 power and no dialing on my Tacsol semi.

Be picking up the new left handed bergarra b14r ar Barren Eart to set up for Rifleman Class next season, putting an element titan 5-25 or a Discovery Optics ED-PRS gen11 5-25 on it.

The forecast for Saturday doesn't look too bad.
We have the bach up the road booked. The guys might get some surfcasting in while there as well.

I'll keep an eye on the wind forecast and make a decision whether or not to shoot the 10/22...

A lot of the cheap scopes are punching WELL above their price point these days.
I’m also running an Arken SH4 in marksman class.
I recently bought a Discovery 5-30 X 56, just to get me up and running on the 223. $500 brand new so wasn’t expecting much, but could easily spot shots on target at 560m

I'm cleaning mud out of all sorts of places.

The wind wasn't as bad as forecasted, but big squalls blew through regularly making it pretty unpleasant with heavy rain and strong gusts.
Karl the match director set up a good course, with some pretty challenging stages, ie Stage Five, M&M (scores will testify) and some really fun stages, ie the Jungle Lane Stage 3 being a firm favourite for many.
The mostly unpainted steel targets also tested your ability to find them amongst the small pines when under pressure and with horizontal rain in your face!
Without knowing the full scoreboard, it seemed scores were lower across the board testifying to the conditions.

Really cool trophies as well, small labelled hatchets.

Off the top of my head, I recall the placings went to:

    Junior - Harris
    Lady - Kassie

    Marksman - Ant, Patrick, Malcolm
    Rifleman - Simon, Graeme, Luke

@Gillie may want to correct me, or add in more.
