My experience with cats [which is limited] is fresh 1/4 hare or rabbit or duck carcass with feathers on and also scattered in and around the trap is my go to bait.. I have tried smoked fish, fresh fish, and many more lures but I know what catches for me. Cam Speedy would say 1/3 of the bait in the trap , 1/3 around close to the trap and 1/3 scattered around up to 20m away... Hopefully Time out will chip in
