Thread: Possum hunting west coast

Unfortunately the Rakaia is buggered imho, as well. To many animals have escaped from stations like Manuka point and Aldigus. Tb scares and and people. Huge deer have been coming out of the area but they are not typical of the rakaia strain. May as well shoot a paddock deer. Of courrse the upper Hoki and Arahura areas will have some goodies lurking about.
I am not in touch as well as I used to be with the Hokitika area. Good for quick meat hunts. I think I will continue to only hunt South Westland during the rut as I believe it is the only place left, for a genuine, uninfluenced red deer trophy.

Your bottom right photo is on a good mates farm. He has not long built a house just east ofwhere your car is parked up on the hill.
