    Rotorua/BOP wallaby opportunitys?

    Hello all.
Ill cut straight to the case, I'm looking for any farms around Rotorua/BOP that have Wallaby problems that I could look at sorting out for you. In exchange I can offer a box or maybe a bourbon or we can sort something out.
Personally I haven't shot any before I know they're in DOC areas around but been told they're often more out at night (which obviously cant hunt at night in DOC) or day but you have to have a good view range to spot them (as opposed to thick bush).
About me: I'm 24 and a Tradie living around Taupiri reasonably new to hunting, still working toward getting a Ute or 4x4 for hunting too so for now the good old corolla works.
Feel free to flick us a message.
Thank you all for your time.

Talk to Maurice Wilkie at DOC Rotorua.
He will know of anyone wanting assistance. Or at least good areas to start asking.
    Overkill is still dead.

touch base with the Regional Council at Rororua as well they are heavily involved in wallaby control- perhaps more so than DOC Dale Williams is the guy running it

When living at Hamurana I tried via various means to access wallaby hunting. Official cullers and their bosses were unwilling to help (guessing H&S). A few were seen by a mate on the Okareka to Okataina track during daylight hrs last week. Dawn and dusk in that area might provide.

I have found the same in the past, talking with councils and even logging companies about hunting possums. Usually giving the cold shoulder as they have their own cullers. Although that may have changed with the new liability laws recently changing.

I'll flick the office an email to try and touch base with them.

Much luck getting them during the day there? Most of the wobblies ive shot have been under spotlight
If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.

Do you use a normal hunting permit to hunt them on public land or do you have to have a small game permit?

Small game permits are about using shotguns and rimfires and the .223 or bigger thing on the standard permit is only about protecting native birds. DOC don't give a crap what you use otherwise.

Was thinking 22hornet would be a good wallaby gun. So could be done on a small game permit
