Thread: Waiheke rabbits

Been over here for a few days for the missus 30th and just plain old too much leave owing. Had been told waiheke was free of possums and had imagined that it was free of rabbits too. Well, was killing an hour before the car ferry was due and drove up the East end of the island for a nosey, came round a corner and hello rabbits breaking left and right off the side of the road...

Anyone on here do any wabbit shooting on the island? There's a ton of open space on the various sheep farms and vineyards, any ins on some careful quiet spotlighting?

Becareful Tommy, the locals (aka the islanders) as they are known if you don't reside there may see them as free spirits that inspire their artistic inner beings.
Shooting the wabbits may cause a shift in the ying and yang over there.

There's wild pigs on the Island too, but again, its mainly on private land.

Bugger that's no fun. Mate reckons his Best Man is the head gardener/vine-wrangler on one of the vineyards, so might have an in there when he catches up with him next. (fingers crossed)
