    That was a good read, thanks Dublin. My riffle is a Tika T3 lite, I'm impressed with it as I can bowl deer over at both short and long ranges. My brother does all my loading for me and we have been to the range numerous times to test these loads with his gadgets and at all different distances. If I was to put a good scope on the riffle with ballistic turrets then I'm sure I would have the perfect set up for an all round riffle. I guess just starting out this has been a good package from hunting and fishing at $1500 and apart from the scope I wouldn't change a thing, thanks again.

    Firstly well done

    Secondly your very lucky to be able to get 4 shots at that animal

    Thirdly i have shot a couple of animals and i am still not that comfortable at 475m even with a rifle all set up (Z5) as i would hate to go look for a wounded animal, At that distance you need to be 100%sure. The other guys have all said it and im sure you now understand. Look after your quarry and just remember all this when you do end up stuffing one up......which will happen

    Fourth refer to point 1

    What an arrogant prick. Hntmad is experienced and sensible, you'd do well to heed his advice. 1080 doesn't get as many as the propaganda would have you believe and saying your not as cruel as other excessive cruelty does not absolve one of cruel choices.

    Just watched your video of your first deer kill and read the comments below. Bloody lucky that you found that first deer and managed to put it out of it's misery. You haven't learnt any thing from that have you? I myself would have been bloody embarrassed about the shot and would have never posted it.
    I think Brads advise is pretty good, stay on the couch mate and stop taking pop shots at deer where the chances off killing it quickly are almost zero or at least don't brag about it and then wonder why every one is shooting you down.

    I think he has stopped the public access to that vid.
    @7mm Rem Mag

    It is great that you are out there doing it and learning as you go.

    But the plea of many on here(including me) to have greater respect for your quarry should not be regarded as harsh criticism or jealousy. They are trying to help you become a hunter instead of a spray and pray you hit something shooter.

    I have been there and done that, not proud of it but learned from it.Most experienced hunters on here have also done that(taken shots outside their skill level)

    The key point is to recognize you are not as good as you thought you were and practice shooting and refrain from shooting if not 95% confident of a first round clean kill.

    Congrats on your Stags.

    OMG I don't believe this is the same guy, didn't put 2&2 together, well done on picking that up. Yes we have all made stuff ups but they stay on the hill. Best you get some shooting practice mate, for the benefit of the animal at least.

    That video makes me sick everytime I see it.
