I initially had them shoot great in my 1:8 tikka @2920fps. But that was in hot weather and only one batch of pills which measured 0.020" shorter than the next batch lot I got. It was erratic as after the temperatures cooled off.
The 80gr are too long to stabilise in 1:8twist at that speed or less. If you change temp and barometric pressure in your ballistic app you can see the stability calc go up and down accordingly.
I ground 80% of the red tips off some as a test and they shot good again but their BC was degraded down to about G1 0.290!

    Hahahaha

Thought that would get a response

    Going to single load

COL (cartridge overall length) for my Sako is 2.470 inches at a 5 thou jump

Is your barrel a cut rifled.
I was told I hammer forged button rifle needs to be 1-7 to stabilize but a cut 1-8

I'm not sure either just what a guy with plenty of NRA target shooting and reloading knowledge told me.

    I don't think you use a Tikka @gimp ?

I think it may be a Tikka thing, 77gr TMK's great groups, 73gr ELDM's also group fine but the 80gr ELDM's not good

Oh I don't mean brand specific, rather I don't see why a button rifled 1:8 would be any different for stability than a cut rifled 1:8

80gr ELD-M run great in my 1-8” Tikka. Nothing fancy, but still produces 1” ten shot groups at 100.
