25g 2206h, Lapua brass, fed primers. COAL of 2.4 inches, so longer than standard T3 mag. 16 inch 1:8 T3 doing around 2,800fps. Work up obviously.

I might have to drop in calibre judging by the damage
You just need to neck or head shoot to get rid of all that damage....

Not that exact combo, I had PMC brass and RWS primers. 23.5gr was the ticket.

My S&L is up to 11 deer with 77 TMKs, albeit one not recovered due to poor shot placement. Here is this arvos latest "development" trying CCI BR4 primers and dispensed (rather than thrown) charges. This load is too snotty, I need to cut it back a tad, it doesn't give any "pressure signs" but I bet the brass is knackered.

It was very windy here with showers, I went back to 365M/400Y and sent two 5 shot groups, one of about 1.2MOA (120mm) and one of 1.6 MOA (170mm)- both "minute of deer" though. I think my limit with this combo will be under 300M, my preference is always to get closer rather than push limits even in perfect conditions.

.83"? Thats good. That S&L has disappointed me up to now (and I guess you) , but that is pretty good.
Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.

Yes it's been very frustrating to have such a nice to use rifle be "only just OK" . The next group shot in nice conditions will be the proof of the pudding.

I think the rifle "had history" , I got it at least third hand and the more I worked with it the more signs became apparent that it had been seriously fucked with, bedding was shite and didn't look "factory", and someone had messed with the firing pin mechanism, it was misfiring about 20% of the time. It's now going "bang" 100%.

Just checking I read that correct, you have shot 11 deer and havnt recovered a single one because of bad shooting? not beacuse you were shooting to waste and now you want to take shots at 300m?

Other way round. He's shot 11 deer, and one of them was shot in the wrong place and ran away

Easy 400m, very hit mechanical hit probability if you ever zero it properly

Not withstanding the horrendous price they are my most desirable .223. But even if I had the money I would have hesitated 'cos of your experience - but maybe yours isn't how they shoot ex factory.
