They actually are not bad eating but here most people use them for dog tucker.
You wouldnt believe the crap you have to go through to be be able to shoot them though, have to have a DEPI idiot come out (equivalent to your DOC) to assess the damage they're causing and then you're given a permit to remove them if they're deemed a bad enough problem. Problem is, people who are employed by DEPI are the city people, some of whom have never seen a roo in the wild before working there that have book smarts but no common sense. I was dealing with a farmer just last week who had one inspect his property and didnt want to give him a permit for any despite him showing her the damage and droppings, when he said "but I've got 300 eating my crop" she said "well there aren't any out here now so I don't think its a bad enough problem" to which he replied "thats because its fucking midday!" True story haha
Legally you also have to use a bigger calibre on roos than you do on buffalo, go figure!
