    Question Age the stag...

Came across this fella on the first day of a 4 day trip. Passed him up at the time and I still think it's the right decision. Hopefully another year or two to really develop his tops. How old do you think he is?

That’s a good point, I should have worded it better.

A guestimate, but 5 years I would say. But not the potential for a great trophy.

I agree with this looks like an older stag going backwards. But looking at his body I would say 4-5 years old.

I'd be guessing at age so 4 to 7 perhaps. But colour and shape (uphill angle can distort that) could suggest more than red blood in there.
Never going to grow in to a classic 12 pointer.

About 5yrs. We'll developed lower tines but lacking tops that'll never really improve. If they're going to grow the classic royal tops, they'll be there by now.

He is certainly old enough to show his potential which is pretty average.

This is the stag that wasn't so luck. Massive thanks to @Billbob for cleaning the skull up for me. Amazing job, zero smell and pearly white - check out his thread in the taxidermy section if you're interested in something similar!
