    Anyone up for a jap hunt around the end of January

    Planning on taking the .270 out to Clements or DoC Oamaru will have my mind made up by then. Will fly camp if no room in Oamaru hut for a weekend to try and get myself my first sika for the freezer, if anyone wants to join me for a hunt more than welcome to come along, please no suggestions in private blocks I can't afford that sort of thing right now.

    Toby where I am planning on going you need to go up the Napier Taupo Highway. If I head to Oamaru flats there is a 12.5K/3hr40min walk through poronui if it is Clements then it is a drive to one of the carparks where you can also camp.

    I may be up for this but need to get through Christmas first before planning too much.
    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

    yea i could be keen as well, but like Rushy would have to wait a bit before committing.

    with all the interest being shown maybe it should become a forum summer jap hunt up at clements to make things a bit easier for places for everyone to hunt

    DOC did a 1080 drop in the Clements rd area only a couple of months ago, heard for a mate of my father that he'd gone for a hunt in there just after and saw 3 dead deer. I'd been thinking of going for a walk down there myself but might leave it a while.
    Wild be keen to join you but going on my honeymoon in feb so can't get away till after that
