Auckland/Northland Hoofed animal Numbers and Cockatoo monitoring Project

    Hi All
I am new to this forum, and looking forward to being part of this community
While I am not currently a hunter, and don’t plan to be for a while, some of the forum posts I have read very much inspired me to make a project, which collects data on the numbers of Feral/Wild Hooved animals In Auckland and Northland

I’d really appreciate any information you guys had. Some of the baseline questions I had would be:

What is the Fallow deer population around Woodhill like (including extents of the population out to Kaukapakapa)
    Red deer numbers in Riverhead
Are there any red deer in Woodhill? From my research I believe there are Small numbers, mostly farm escapes, but I doubt I know as much as any of you, so I’d love to know!
Pig numbers in both Woodhill and Riverhead
Deer and Pig numbers in and around the Hunua ranges
Deer numbers around Awhitu peninsula and Port Waikato
Any other information about the numbers of Deer, Pigs, Goats, even escaped cattle and sheep which have somewhat established would be hugely appreciated! I completely understand if some of you are uncomfortable sharing your knowledge, but if you do, please be assured I am not an active hunter, and it will probably be YEARS before I give it my first go.

Another side project I’ve been working on is monitoring cockatoo numbers in NZ, any information on that would be massively appreciated! Just for context, I don’t plan to harm them, this is just out of personal interest

If you guys don’t have any info I’d really appreciate it if you could inform me of other people/organisations/forums with knowledge that might relate to the project

    Regards
    Owen

As I read it becomes obvious you are after information about cloven hooved animals so I will refrain from telling you how many bloody horses there are here. Unless you are interested in which case the answer is too many!

Hey Barry, it’s purely out of my Personal Interest, I understand your reasoning, but it will not be put to harm the animals and will not be shared with anyone who could put them in danger. I genuinely apologise if I seem untrustworthy, I completely understand why you think that, you don’t have to share anything at all with me if you don’t want to, after all I walk most days so should probably put some of that to use by going to Woodhill etc

And ROKTOY, just for my own personal interest, I doubt I’ll use it for too much, and it will be mostly private

Genuinely really sorry to anyone who thinks I may have malicious intentions. I understand that DOC, etc may post similar things to this, I’m genuinely just trying to do a research project out of my own personal interest. if any of you want I can send the whole thing over. If you have any private info, please send it in PMs or don’t at all.
    Best regards
