Thread: Bringing rifle home from overseas

Morning
I hold a New Zealand gun licence .
I also have a Zambian Gun licence.
Going by NZ Police website I cannot find a form for returning kiwi to import his rifle.
Only see one for visitor.
Do we use same form and then present our New Zealand licence at airport on arrival or am I missing something?

Fairly sure once you bring it in on the visit permit it transfers straight away to your nz licences.

I'd come in on your Zambian firearms license. Then carry on with your nz license.
Just don't tell them you have one. If they ask just tell them your going back and wanted to be legit.
Think it's $25.00 was last time I came through. Used it for the use of my guns back home that Dad has in his safe, on his license.
With the vistiours permit you can purchase guns and ammo, as well as use them.

You need to get an import permit. For A category firearms, this can be issued by your local AO. It is free.

Your are not a visitor, so don't get a visitors licence. You already have a licence.
