    Decent Boar

The pigs have been making a bit of a nuisance of themselves after the recent rain & one of the sows appears to be on heat so a few of the local boys have been showing up for a party
We went & gate crashed their party earlier tonight, it was a bit awkward, I wanted to make sure I shot one of the suitors
Picked on this one as he was bigger than the others & a different colour, he didn't make it easy though, they never seem to stop unless they are digging & even then not for long....

As he was moving when I shot him the 6mm Hammer 75 HHT hit him a little low, but at 4100 fps they really upset things
I knew he was a big bugger as we really struggled to drag him let alone get him on the back of the ute once gutted, the tray is 1800 across

Fat as mud is such an understatement in this case & doesn't even begin to describe his condition, didn't have very long hooks & appears to be fairly young
Got quite a shock when the scales were reading more than I thought he weighed & he was no where near off the floor, even put him back down to make sure they were zeroed

He is nearly 100lbs heavier than any others I have shot over the years, still hasn't really sunk in yet

yeah interesting breeding- distinctive saddle back markings -- one wonders how long ago his genes got away into wild - to still be distinctively a saddleback breed one would think may be not that long ago - interesting - not a breed used nowadays for pork - but are still kept by breeders into the old breeds like Duroc large black - Tamworth - one sees photos of the big old pigs and they are strongly Tamworth or one of the old breeds- but go right back into Motu and they are razorbacks - very different looking pig - long nose all shoulders and no arse - but what one has here is a damn good lump of eating pork
