I don't quite see the point of the first one? its a tent but drafty and leaky like a fly, might as well have a fly.

All my respect to the guys who manage well with a fly/ tarp or similar.

I find that I'mjust that much better a hunter with a proper night sleep, so I carry a good sleeping bag and a proper tent (if I'm not in a hut - rare these days).

I have bought a hammock and tarp, but I'm not exactly proficient with it yet. I bought a minimalist tarp 300 grams. A larger size tarp (for easy fitting over hammock) quickly weighs as much as a good lightweight tent that offer superior protection.

Also made the mistake of buying a YELLOW hammock wanting something easy to see in the dark - it is a visual bug magnet.

    Here's what I would have bought today, 3 person/ 1.65kg and cooking space : http://www.helsport.no/rondane-superlight-3-camp

Have a look at "Outer limits" Starlight tent. Have used mine a lot and found it very good.

I've used a Hennessey for 7 years. As Norway says, once you add the bigger fly above (needed, as in wet weather you need some living space), they do weigh around the same as a tent.
You either love them or hate them, took me a while to learn to like them.
They are a pain to get comfy, but once you are set, they are good.

    Hammock ticks all the boxs

    Hennessy Hammock
The fly is 400 grams I think it's been awhile the unit its lightweight.
Used and tested some of the early winter mats the go under the Hammock.
It's a great product, I have two fly's the large can cover the hammock we had four under it to cook and stay dry.
No pain when you wake up not like on the ground which was the norm, even in the later years when air mats arrived.
You still new you had slept on the ground.
Hidden my mates face, as I know he wouldn't want to appear here.
The pictures are 11 years ago.

If anyone is after a Hennessey Hammock, Massdrop is doing a drop on them atm. Will be down to $130 once the quota is reached, with $24 shipping.
