But, well, if its got a suppressor on it, then it will have a shorter barrel than a .300 Win Mag needs, which means you are just buying a .30/06. I'm sorry but somebody had to say it. Your paying a lot of money for something my .30/06 can do.
how much barrel do you think it needs?

Its a big cartridge with a lot of powder, 24 imches minimum and many factory versions in this chambering are 26 inches. There is little point in having a short barrel on a magnum calibre.

    To a point. A 20 inch 300mag will still outperform a 20 inch 30 06. In fact it will likely outperform a 24inch 30-06, but in a shorter barrel.

Hence the point of a shorter barreled magnum

Well, sure. But that's sort of like saying Gareth Morgan wouldn't have a speech impediment if he didn't talk funny.

My .30/06 with a normal barrel and his .300 Win Mag with a 20 inch barrel and a suppressor and you are still going to need hearing protection to shoot both of them. Anyway, we are speculating about the length of his barrel. It may not be short.

Yeah but the one with a suppressor does way less damage to you hearing when shooting without earpro. Horses for courses, each to their own.

And yeah it could be a 26incher plus a can, in which case it will be fast, quiet and a pig to carry
