I'd say red. Once a fallow antler gets a couple of points it usually shows some flattening of the beam as in starting to palm.

I'm pegging it as a young red stag. (probably 2y/o, maybe 3)
It could, at a stretch, be from an ancient fallow buck going backwards, but definitely much less likely. (any younger buck would show at least some form of flattening/palmation, and even an old boy would still be likely to)

A few things I consider in favour of that -
The pedicle seems a touch too large for even a big old fallow, but just fine for a red.
The bez trine on fallow typically sprouts more perpendicular to the main beam, more directly outwards with less of a merged join.
A fallow buck of sufficient age and genetics to produce a beam of that mass would likely still be forming at least the beginnings of a palm, even if he was very old and staring into his last winter.
If it was an old fallow buck, I would expect a stronger outward angle down near the pedicle, forming a much wider span right from low down. It looks like these antlers would have been pretty narrow the whole way up, perfect for a young red.

For what it's worth i saw a cast Rusa antler that looked like that. Except the cast antler didn't have the first (bez) tine

Extremely unlikely to be anything but a red or fallow. Id assume theres more fallow in the vicinity also. It does seem quite short for a red and i thought that fallow and reds wouldn't be sharing the same tracks and areas as each other?

That ridge on the beam from the brow tine to the trey is unusual for a Red and the lack of palmation above the trey is unusual for a Fallow... what else do you Nth islanders have that has a pronounced ridge on the beam and lacks Bey tines and zero pearling ??

I'd say red I hunt doc land in central north island where there are red in fallow & have watch them feeding on the same clearing at the same times so they happily walk the same tacks to get there.

Probably the cast of a red. I would be thinking it was his first head after a spiker.

Red, a two year old fallow shows palmation, and if it was genetically defunct wouldn’t have points as good as that.
