Great attitude and outcome from them! (So it seems)
Why are you guys giving any kind of kudos to these guys? They got in there first, done their hours, got their paycheck and now they are playing the oh we have had a change of heart card.
Lets not forget that this company in question are notorious for hazing. When the american "Hushin" crew came here a couple years back they even produced a video about how cool it was that in NZ you could chase an animal round in a helicopter and get out and shoot it, and in the video they did exactly that, the chamois buck they shot could literally be seen panting it was so exhausted by the time they had had their fun videoing it as they chased it around and up onto a ridge then they landed on an adjacent ridge and some fat fuckwit got out and shot it. This is the type of "experience" they have continued to offer to hundreds and hundreds of hunters.
Yip and now they realise that Doc are wrecking some of there business.
Read between the lines/lies, damage is done, the hours have been completed and now they are trying to save face.
And lets not forget that Alpine was founded and grown on the rape and pillage of all of our game herds! Would be nice to think that they have seen the light, and are now having regrets, but sadly I dont think thats the case. Rumour has it that a large high country property owner has told them to DCM to all his ag work.
F@#k em. They made their choice, and now they can experience the consequences.:chop:
Even before I scrolled down and read any f the above comments or who was involved this is exactly what went through my mind!
Id like to see exactly how many hours that they have logged! Now if it only comes up as 20 Ok that’s a change of hart.....but if its 45 himmm What’s the weather doing at the moment? It you in for some no fly hours so lets pull the pin and look to be saving some face?
Should be able to find out as it is public money that has been spent.
Even better if they had a real change of hart they should donate the money earned doing this slaughter to the Thar foundation;):o:XD: put ya money where ya mouth is:thumbsup:
They are getting plenty of feed back on there FB page
And I would say since some names of the companies were posted on here, some of them will have been reading the comments and realizing they are going to lose business. Since the tourists are not in the country, they have forgotten that it is only Kiwis that will be flying with them. I wouldn't be surprised if another couple announce they will stop doing it. Too little Too late.
They are shooting the Tahr that lays the golden egg. Doesn't make any sense if they had thought about it a bit before they decided to get into some "easy" money.
OIA request would confirm.
It,s been pointed out to them once or twice on there facebook page , they are getting a roasting !! im surprised they haven't taken it down , what a shame they didn't pull the pin earlier , obviously as has been pointed out they have done there 3 days flying , seems pathetic when you look at it like that all the anguish , frustration its caused to the thousands that hold Tahr in high regard , the fund raising , court action , protest action not to mention all the small business that relied upon those animals and to trash everyone's resource for 3 days work , probably had another 3 days lined up in the NP too but whip dee doo , fuck them I wont forget and on that note a separate thread should be put together to support those that did not partake in the cull , its not too often I fly in but when work finishes im going to make sure I plan a trip and support those companys .
@Boaraxa now ^^^ That is a bloody good idea:thumbsup:
[QUOTE=Boar Freak;1039942]Will there be anything left worth flying in for?
Never been to SI, have been planning my first Tahr/Cham trip this summer for over a year now. This control program took a bit of the wind out of me sails.[/QUOTE
]
Iv always wanted to go for a chammy over on the west coast hopefully they have left them alone ? , its a bit more rugged over there compared to the vast openness of the east coast country so likely there will be a few Tahr left down in the scrub & bush too though chammy will be the main target .
@Boar Freak hopefully some one will point you in the right direction. I have know been down there twice and been lucky with spots both times. First place has now been shot and where i was going to go back around nelson lakes is to be 1080. Out side of the 1080 zone south of the lakes will still be worth a look.
I really wanted to go back next year but waiting to see what happens
Boar Freak......you fellas dont realise just how good we have had it for last 10 years.... during the 80s and 90s when I was teaching myself to hunt...spooking a deer every 3rd trip was good going..... when you remember how many tahr were originally released, you will realise that if only a few survive they will breed back up again if the slaughter stops...and if it doesnt they will go bush, and stay there..... Greg Duley made comment in magazine last year that the chopper operators targeting deer were amazed at how easy it was as they were targeting 2nd generation of animals who DIDNT know to run away or hide from machines....you can bet it wont be so easy next spring, the oler hinds will have learnt and lead others to safety...... the tahr will learn too.
not sure just how low the numbers of these big hairy goats got before Andersen and co got moratorium sorted to save them last time...but pretty sure it wouldve been below 10k
I wonder if there pulling out was due to additional overseas pressure put on Alpine by hunting groups such as sci etc....??????
Boar freak, go for it mate. Can assure you during early 80,s you could spend a week in the likes of the Rangitata valleys and consider yourself lucky to see 2 or 3 tahr....
Its just a smoke screen. They done their part in the cull and are only trying to con hunters like DOC do to the NZDA and GAC.
They dont feel bad, they just trying to drum up business for the future. Dont fall for this BS, Dont use any of these ""ïll sell my mother of a quick buck"" cowboys
Particularly low form of pond scum if they’ve done most of their hours, then try to con people by saying “they’ve pulled out”. Fuck em
Maybe the thar foundation can have list of approved operators that don’t participate with approval to show a logo or something
Carry on with your witch hunt fellas.
I have nothing to do with Alpine but know the operators well.
Was told today, they hadn't started as of yesterday by another operator that should know as he heard they were going to pull out.

Im going to go against the grain here it seems and say good on Alpine. And I also think all those people who sent them emails, should now send them emails and thank them for seeing sense and taking a stand.
They support the cull, but dont support zero densities, and isnt that what we as hunters want?
So what if they flew their hours (if they even did), if they knocked off some to reduce the numbers and then say thats it, surely thats better than killing to extinction. Alpine (Tim Wallis - and now his boys) have been in the game a very long time, they were flying Tiger Moths in and out before they even had choppers. They have always supported hunters that Im aware of, I would have more faith and trust in them than many of the flying cowboys of todays era.
For whatever reason Alpine say they are done, good on them.
If that's the case they need to openly say so , why wouldn't they come forward and say we did not partake in the cull ? , im sure they would get a lot of support if this is the case
Maybe politicians may now realise the power of tax paying voters who are sick of lies and the TAHR LIVES MATTER campaign will haunt them in November. Heard ACT person from Invercargill was at the rally and got a good recetion saying I wont get elected but give me your party vote.
That's completely untrue, Alpine Helicopters shot the Murchison valley last week. The Bull in the tahr foundation still kicking after 30mins was shot by Alpine, The video shows Toby in the 500 shooting bull tahr.
They have pulled pin because a local cocky rung them to tell them to shove there annual agr work up there arse. They have realised that there actions and this cull is going to follow them forever now. They are now trying to save face. You'd have to be very naive to see it as a good will gesture.

We need to find out who it is so I can buy them a box.
