Its most likely, deer. They will guts most things when they are hungry or in good numbers and theres competition. They eat Toi Toi and flax as well.
Rats! they nest in the Punga's and will chew/eat anything.
Well it's my best guess.
Didn't have any luck on the deer this morning but my mate and me went goat shooting and got these two - good to bring back some meat

Would think the Ponga fronds chewed like that would be possum. Often see them in the top of them round here, would make it easy for them to get a feed if the fronds are on the ground .
